Seatrium Ships Two Giant FPSOs to Petrobras' Búzios Field
Singapore-based Seatrium is gearing up to send two massive floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) units, P-80 and P-82, to Brazil's Petrobras for deployment in the Búzios field. The vessels were christened at a ceremony in Singapore and will be the ninth and tenth FPSOs deployed in the field, respectively.
The two ships are expected to increase oil production capacity by 34% in the Búzios field, which is currently producing around 1.335 million barrels of oil per day. Each FPSO has a design capacity to produce 225,000 barrels of oil per day and process 12 million cubic meters of gas per day.
Seatrium fabricated over 110,000 metric tons of topside modules across its yards in Singapore, China, and Brazil before integrating and commissioning the vessels at its Tuas Boulevard Yard. The ships incorporate carbon capture and reinjection capabilities, energy recovery systems, and other emissions-reduction technologies.
Petrobras' president, Magda Chambriard, hailed the FPSOs as 'giant platforms for our giant field.' She added that they would generate energy for years to come and bring development and a better future for the Brazilian people. The P-80 is scheduled to operate in the pre-salt layer of Santos Basin.
