Sempra Infrastructure Signs 20-Year LNG Deal with Petrobras
Sempra Infrastructure has secured a significant deal with Petrobras, expanding its liquefied natural gas (LNG) customer portfolio. The 20-year sales agreement will see Petrobras receive approximately 0.8 million tonnes of LNG per annum from the Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 project in Texas.
The Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 project is expected to add two liquefaction trains with a combined capacity of about 13 million tonnes per annum, increasing total capacity to around 26 million tonnes per annum. This deal supports the development of the second phase and expands Sempra Infrastructure's global LNG customer base.
Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 is currently under construction, with commercial operations for trains 1 and 2 expected near the end of 2027 and in 2028, respectively. The company anticipates that Phase 2 trains 3 and 4 will begin operations in 2030 and 2031.
The agreement adds Petrobras as Sempra Infrastructure's first South American customer, marking an expansion into a new region for the company.
