Sempra's Port Arthur LNG Expansion Seeks Federal Permit

Sempra Energy's unit Port Arthur LNG has initiated the federal permitting process for its proposed expansion of liquefied natural gas (LNG) export operations in Southeast Texas.

The project, known as the Port Arthur LNG North Project, aims to add four liquefaction trains capable of producing up to 27 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG, significantly expanding Sempra's export footprint on the US Gulf Coast.

Each train would be able to produce up to 6.73 mtpa of LNG under optimal conditions.

The project also includes three LNG storage tanks and marine facilities with up to two LNG berths for loading cargoes onto tankers.
