Senate Farm Bill Draft Set to Advance Year-Round E15 Nationwide
The U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee is set to release its long-awaited Farm Bill draft this week, ahead of a scheduled markup on August 6. The proposal includes language designed to authorize year-round E15 gasoline sales nationwide.
This represents months of negotiations among lawmakers, ethanol advocates and refining interests. According to sources familiar with the negotiations, the Senate text will include compromise language intended to bridge the gap between the provision previously approved by the House of Representatives and legislation backed by Senators Deb Fischer and Shelley Moore Capito.
The measure matters because it could permanently expand demand for corn-based ethanol, strengthen biofuel markets and provide greater certainty for farmers, fuel retailers and investors across the agricultural supply chain.
