Sensex Climbs 43 Points Amid Oil Price Surge
Indian equity markets ended marginally higher on August 10, driven by gains in information technology and consumer-oriented stocks. The Sensex rose 43.27 points to settle at 78,542.44, while the Nifty was up 13.15 points to end at 24,583.80.
The spike in crude oil prices due to geopolitical uncertainties tempered risk appetite, with Brent crude jumping 1.10% to $84.47 per barrel.
Experts attributed the cautious market sentiment to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and its impact on global oil supplies.
Sectoral indices such as realty, consumer durables, and capital goods showed significant gains, while PSU Bank declined 1.30%.
