Sensex Slumps Amid Crude Oil Prices and Tata Group Selling
The Indian stock market declined for the second consecutive day due to elevated crude oil prices and selling in shares of Tata Group companies.
The BSE Sensex, a benchmark index, dropped by nearly 188 points, or 0.24 percent, to close at 77,966.35 on Wednesday.
This decline occurred despite some recovery in the closing session, as the Sensex had earlier tumbled by 656.32 points, or 0.83 percent, to 77,497.93.
The main reason for this decline was the announcement made by N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, that he will not seek reappointment when his current term ends in February 2027.
