Seoul-Tokyo Talks Focus on Energy Cooperation Amid Growing Trade Ties
South Korea and Japan have taken their first step towards strengthening bilateral cooperation on emergency energy supplies. The two nations held a meeting in Tokyo to discuss implementing a supply chain partnership, which aims to stabilize the flow of liquefied natural gas (LNG), crude oil, and petroleum products.
The Seoul Industry Ministry reported that the two sides agreed to deepen their cooperation on stable emergency supplies, including LNG, crude oil, and petroleum products. They also exchanged views on coordinating responses to carbon emissions and supply chain due diligence rules, including the EU's carbon tariff.
This meeting marks a significant development in the relationship between South Korea and Japan, which have been working towards strengthening their economic ties. The two nations are looking to improve their cooperation in various sectors, including energy and trade.
