Gold prices started September on a strong note, while silver witnessed a sharp decline. According to Punjab Kesari English, 24-carat gold rose by ₹160 per 10 grams to ₹1,57,080 at the beginning of the month.

Silver prices, however, fell by ₹5,000 per kilogram from the previous day's rate. The drop in silver prices was significant, as it traded at ₹2.50 lakh per kilogram on major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.

Market experts believe that the outlook for gold in the coming weeks will largely depend on the U.S. Federal Reserve's interest rate decisions, upcoming U.S. inflation data, and the overall strength of the U.S. economy.
