Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa spoke by phone Saturday with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, reaffirming Syria's support for Saudi Arabia's security amid heightened regional tensions.

Al-Sharaa began the call by renewing Syria's condemnation of an attempted strike on Saudi oil facilities attributed to Iranian-backed militias operating in Iraq, according to a statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two leaders reviewed bilateral relations and discussed expanding cooperation across multiple sectors, as well as regional and international developments aimed at reducing tensions and reinforcing stability across the Middle East.
