Sheinbaum Unveils Support for Corn Producers and Transparency Reforms
Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that her administration has reached an agreement with 100,000 corn producers to address the recent fall in corn prices. As part of this deal, almost 4.57 billion pesos (US$262.39 million) will be distributed to 26,800 producers in Sinaloa.
Sheinbaum emphasized that when corn prices are low, the government supports farmers to ensure their livelihoods. This move is seen as a significant support for agriculture and corn producers in Mexico.
The President also signed a decree to strengthen transparency and guarantee citizens' right to information. The new law eliminates discretion over what information is released, strengthens the National Transparency Platform, and expands public access to data on government contracts, Pemex, CFE, audits, and oversight.
