Shell and MET Group Ink Multi-Year US LNG Supply Deal
Energy giants Shell and MET Group have solidified their long-term cooperation in liquefied natural gas (LNG) trading, signing a new multi-year supply deal. Under this agreement, Shell will provide MET with LNG sourced from its U.S. portfolio over a period of multiple years.
The deal marks another milestone in the duo's cooperation and is expected to strengthen Europe's energy security by providing reliable access to U.S. LNG. This aligns with MET Group's strategy to diversify its supply chain, particularly as demand for more stable gas procurement strategies continues to rise.
According to MET Group, accessing U.S. LNG can help broaden sourcing options and reduce exposure to volatility in European gas benchmarks. The company highlighted the importance of innovative pricing solutions, such as contracts indexed to the U.S. Henry Hub benchmark, which can offer greater flexibility for customers.
