Shell Boosts Malaysia Oil Production with Malikai Phase 3
Shell has greenlit the next phase of its Malaysian deepwater field, the Malikai project. The third phase involves drilling four oil-producing wells to boost production and sustain liquid output at around 1.4m barrels per day by 2030.
The Phase 3 development will increase oil production by 60%, from the current 25,000 barrels per day to approximately 40,000 barrels per day. Production from this phase is expected to start in Q3 2028.
The project leverages the same combo riser technology first used in Malikai Phase 1 and applied in Phase 2 in 2021.
