Silver Futures Trade Heavily as CME Group Expands 24/7 Access
CME Group's expansion of 24/7 trading to its 100-Ounce Silver futures contract has gotten off to a strong start. In the first weekend of round-the-clock trading, 2,387 contracts traded, representing over $15 million in notional value.
This milestone follows the exchange's decision to extend the same 24/7 access to silver after retail clients showed strong appetite for right-sized gold futures available whenever they needed them. Jin Hennig, Managing Director and Global Head of Metals at CME Group, noted that 'Silver sits at the crossroads of precious and industrial metals, and our first weekend of 24/7 trading confirms participants want round-the-clock access to manage both investment exposure and real-world supply risk.'
The success of this expansion is a testament to the growing demand for flexible and convenient trading options in the precious metals market. CME Group's decision to expand 24/7 trading to its silver contract is likely to attract even more retail traders and investors who value the combination of right-sized products and round-the-clock access.
