Silver Mines Rides Strong Prices with Expanded Bowdens Development Plan
Silver Mines (ASX:SVL) is benefiting from strong silver prices as it advances an expanded development plan for its Bowdens Silver Project in New South Wales. The company owns one of Australia's largest undeveloped silver deposits and recently released a definitive feasibility study that increased the project's reserve base by 30% to 93.5 million ounces of contained silver.
The updated study also extended the potential mine life to 26 years through a staged development approach, with the first phase processing 29.9 million tonnes over approximately 16 years and producing 65.4 million ounces of silver. Silver now accounts for about 91% of projected project revenue, while silver and zinc together represent approximately 95%. This gives Bowdens significant exposure to silver prices.
The company is continuing to work through the project's approvals pathway, with development consent still subject to the New South Wales government and Independent Planning Commission. Silver Mines has also been expanding its landholding around Bowdens and pursuing opportunities in the United States, providing additional potential growth avenues beyond the core development.
