Silver Price Crashes to ₹2.42 Lakh/Kg Amid Festive Season
Raksha Bandhan is a festival in India known for gifts and jewelry shopping. As such, silver becomes a highly sought-after item during this time of year. On August 28, 2026, despite a daily fall in prices within the precious metals market, silver was trading at high levels.
According to data from the Indian Bullion Association, the price of 999 fine silver varied across different cities. Chennai had the highest price for silver at ₹2,43,280 per kg. In comparison, Delhi recorded a lower price of ₹2,42,140 per kg, making it one of the least expensive options among the six major cities listed.
The broader India benchmark supplied for August 28 was ₹2,55,000 per kg. This highlights the importance of verifying local quotations before making a purchase, as prices can differ significantly from city to city and even between dealers.
