Silver Prices Plummet on Surprise Buyer Exit Amid Fed Rate Decision
Silver's price has stabilized at $57.55 per ounce following a tumultuous session on Wednesday, when prices swung wildly between $56.90 and $57.73.
The market's volatility was fueled by two major developments: the sudden departure of the world's largest industrial silver buyer and the Federal Reserve's decision to maintain interest rates at 3.50 to 3.75 percent.
Dr. Hamed Esnaashari, an analyst at Formationstrader, described the buyer's exit as potentially transformative for the silver market over the next decade, prompting him to revise his long-term entry zone.
The Fed's decision was accompanied by dissent among regional bank presidents, with three voting in favor of a rate hike. However, Chair Kevin Warsh refused to offer forward guidance, arguing that markets must learn to react independently to incoming data.
