Silver Prices Stable Amid Shifts in Industrial Demand
Silver prices hover near $57.90 an ounce after a modest 1.06 percent gain in the last 24 hours, as it tries to reclaim the $58 mark.
The metal's industrial demand is undergoing significant changes due to the photovoltaic industry's shift away from silver-based production methods.
Major manufacturers like Longi Green Energy and Aiko Solar are already producing silver-free or reduced modules using copper electroplating, which could reduce solar-related silver demand by 19 percent to around 151 million ounces by 2026.
However, the decline in solar demand is being partially offset by other industrial sectors like industrial processing and the artificial intelligence boom, where silver's superior electrical conductivity makes it indispensable for high-performance data centers, networking hardware, and advanced semiconductors.
