Silver Rallies on Iran Truce, Oil Price Slump
Silver prices have surged to near $60 in Asian trading on Monday, driven by a pause in US-Iran military escalation and a subsequent drop in oil prices. The sharp decline in crude has eased worries about inflation and interest rates, making it more likely that the Federal Reserve will leave benchmark interest rates unchanged at its upcoming policy announcement.
As tensions between the two nations have subsided, WTI Oil has plummeted 5.6% to near $84.00. This decline has tempered concerns about persistently high inflation and reduced fears that global central banks will need to push interest rates higher in the near term.
The pause in military aggression between the US and Iran has created a more stable environment, which is supportive of non-yielding assets like Silver. However, investors should note that elevated interest rates generally undermine the appeal of such assets.
