Silver Retreats Amid Rising US Yields
Silver prices declined by 0.8% to $28.50 per ounce on Tuesday as US Treasury yields rebounded, pressuring the precious metal despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainties.
The recent rise in Treasury yields has been driven by stronger-than-expected economic data and hawkish comments from Federal Reserve officials, which have tempered expectations for aggressive rate cuts in 2025.
According to the US Department of the Treasury, the 10-year Treasury yield climbed to 4.2% on Tuesday, up from 4.1% a week earlier.
Silver's price swings are amplified by its smaller market size and higher sensitivity to economic cycles, making it more volatile than gold.
