Silver Slides as Easing Geopolitics Outweighs Weaker Dollar
Silver prices dropped below $57 an ounce on Monday due to easing geopolitical tensions that reduced demand for safe-haven assets. This shift in sentiment offset support from a weaker US dollar, which had otherwise helped limit silver's losses.
The decrease in silver prices follows optimism growing over renewed US-Iran negotiations. US President Donald Trump announced that fresh talks with Iran would begin on Monday, although Tehran denied any negotiations were underway.
Meanwhile, the US dollar weakened to its lowest level since mid-June after authorities intervened in the foreign exchange market to support the yen, limiting silver's losses.
