Silver Slumps as Dollar Surges, Deficit Persists
Silver prices declined in July, both domestically and globally. In Egypt, domestic silver prices fell by approximately 1% during July 2026 transactions. Globally, silver dropped by about $1 per ounce during the same period.
The price of 999-purity fine silver in Egypt dropped from around 101 EGP to 97 EGP per gram, closing the month at around 100 EGP. Meanwhile, 925-purity silver recorded around 93 EGP per gram, while 800-purity silver reached approximately 80 EGP.
The premium on domestic silver bullion decreased from about 8 EGP to 5 EGP per gram above the fair market value derived from global prices calculated at the official USD exchange rate of the Central Bank of Egypt.
