Silver Stocks Poised to Shine as Demand Surges
Central banks' ongoing vigilance on inflation has brought hard assets back into focus, and silver is attracting attention. The growing demand from AI hardware, solar panels, and electric vehicles is pulling more silver into industrial use. This gap between interest in inflation hedges and constrained mine investment is where opportunity lies.
Three top silver stocks are positioned for this theme: Hecla Mining (HL), Discovery Mining (TSX:DSV), and First Majestic Silver (TSX:AG). These companies have a strong link to rising silver demand, with primary silver output from their operations. Hecla Mining, for example, generates most of its revenue from its Greens Creek mine, which produced about $789 million in 2026.
Discovery Mining is also a hybrid gold and silver producer, with current cash flow driven mainly by gold production at Porcupine Complex. However, the company's Cordero silver project has significant growth potential and could appeal to investors seeking a dedicated pipeline of silver-focused growth. First Majestic Silver, on the other hand, has multiple Mexican mines that provide a direct link to the metal price.
While these companies have strong fundamentals, including high profit margins and record free cash flow, they also come with risks. Hecla Mining relies on external funding in the past and ongoing capital needs for tailings, permitting, and technology upgrades. Discovery Mining's costs at Porcupine are not low, and Cordero requires heavy upfront spending. First Majestic Silver is heavily concentrated in Mexico and carries elevated costs.
