Silver Surges ₹5,927/kg as Gold Hits ₹1.46 Lakh/10g
The prices of gold and silver have seen an upward trend on August 5. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), one kilogram of silver has increased by ₹5,927 to reach ₹2.25 lakh. The price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold has risen by ₹2,760 to ₹1.46 lakh.
Gold has been on an upward trend this year, becoming ₹13,000 more expensive in 2026 so far. On December 31, 2025, 10g gold was above ₹1.33 lakh, which is now at ₹1.46 lakh.
Ajay Kedia, a commodity expert, believes that gold and silver prices have decreased significantly from their highs. He suggests investing in them, but warns against making lump sum investments. According to Kedia, by the end of the year, gold can reach ₹1.60 lakh and silver can reach ₹2.80 lakh.
Investors can buy Gold ETF or Silver ETF through Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), which track the fluctuating prices of gold and silver. This allows investors to start with less than ₹500.
