Silver Surges on Weaker Dollar, Treasury Volatility
Silver prices surged in Egypt and globally over the past week, driven by a weaker U.S. dollar, shifting expectations for U.S. interest rates, volatility in Treasury markets, and persistent concerns over U.S. debt and fiscal conditions.
In Egypt, silver rose by around EGP 11 per gram during the week, increasing from EGP 103 to approximately EGP 114, representing a gain of about 10.7%. The price of 925-silver was priced at around EGP 96 per gram, while 800 silver stood at approximately EGP 83.
Globally, silver recorded a strong week, opening near $65 an ounce before climbing above $69 by the end of Friday's session, gaining more than $4, or around 6%. The rally was supported by a weaker U.S. dollar and changes in expectations for U.S. interest rates.
