Silver Surges Past $67 as Inflation Data Reshapes Fed Expectations
The silver market has broken past $67 per ounce as softer inflation data reshapes expectations for Federal Reserve policy.
Cooling US consumer price data, which rose just 0.1 percent month over month in July, pulled the annual rate down to 3.4 percent from 3.5 percent previously.
The drop in inflation rates has caused a rapid repricing of near-term Federal Reserve policy expectations, with the odds of a September rate hike trimmed to roughly 48 percent.
The World Silver Institute projects that demand will outstrip supply for the sixth consecutive year in 2026, with the shortfall expected to widen by 15 percent year over year to 46.3 million ounces.
