Singapore Secures World-First LNG FSRU for Stable Gas Supply
Singapore has secured a liquefied natural gas (LNG) floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) for its natural gas supply. The vessel, designed by Hanwha Ocean, is a state-of-the-art facility that can operate continuously for 25 years without maintenance. This is a world first in the industry.
Hanwha Ocean has incorporated redundant equipment and durable coatings into the design of the FSRU to ensure its longevity. The company has also conducted dozens of risk assessments and expanded 3D model reviews to enhance quality control.
The FSRU will be chartered by Singapore LNG Corporation, a state-owned city gas company. This move is expected to provide a stable supply of natural gas to Singapore.
