SLO County Gas Prices Soar Amid Middle Eastern Volatility
Gas prices in San Luis Obispo County have seen a significant increase over the past week, rising 13 cents to an average of $5.90 per gallon, according to AAA.
The main driver behind this surge is the volatility in the Middle East, particularly along the Strait of Hormuz and the instability in the region, which has pushed crude oil prices into the $90 per barrel range.
This price hike has not only affected San Luis Obispo County but also California as a whole, with gas prices increasing 15 cents to an average of $5.63 per gallon last week.
Nationally, gas prices have risen by 12 cents to an average of $4.11 per gallon.
San Luis Obispo County currently holds the fifth highest price for gas in California, with Mono County boasting the highest average price at $6.85 per gallon and Sutter County having the lowest average cost at $5.29 per gallon.
