Small Investors Flock to Digital Gold Amid Volatility
Gold prices have been volatile in recent weeks, swinging sharply due to shifting expectations around US interest rates and geopolitical tensions. Despite being below its record high of Rs 1.78 lakh per 10 grams, gold is still a popular investment option for many retail investors.
The current price of 24-karat gold is hovering around Rs 1.43 lakh per 10 grams in the domestic market, which is roughly 20% below its all-time high reached on January 29, 2026. To mitigate this volatility, more investors are turning to small, staggered purchases through digital platforms like Paytm Gold.
Paytm Gold allows customers to buy digital gold at live market prices, with investments starting from as little as Rs 51. The platform also offers Daily Gold SIPs for automatic, recurring purchases over a one-time investment. The digital gold is backed by equivalent physical gold held in insured, bank-grade vaults.
The approach does not eliminate market risk, and prices can fall as easily as rise. However, with volatility expected to persist through the second half of the year, many small investors are focusing on accumulating steadily rather than finding the perfect entry point.
