Smitty's Supply Blast Continues to Haunt Roseland Community
On August 22, 2025, an explosion at Smitty's Supply plant in Roseland, Louisiana spread oil across Tangipahoa Parish. Residents are still dealing with its lingering impact a year later.
Nationally recognized environmentalist Scott Smith said his most recent testing shows Roseland remains contaminated.

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality released test results of fish impacted by the explosion on November 3, 2025. According to the LDEQ, a study was conducted to determine if fish, shrimp and crabs from the Tangipahoa River were safe for consumption.
Smitty's Supply has been the focus of several investigations, which uncovered a history of complaints, spills, and violations.
