SoCal Citygate Prices Soar Amid Summer Heat Demand

SoCal Citygate natural gas prices have surged to around $4/MMBtu in July, making Southern California one of the most expensive natural gas markets in the Lower 48. This increase is due to rising demand and competition for western supply, driven by summer heat.

The power burn in the region has reached nearly 1.5 Bcf/d, further contributing to the price hike. In contrast, Florida spot prices have been surpassed by SoCal Citygate cash prices, which have more than doubled this month.

This shift reflects the intense competition for natural gas supply in the western United States during peak demand periods.
