Solar Power Surpasses Fossil Fuels as Cheaper Alternative for Developing Countries

A recent report from Ember has found that solar power is now more economical and accessible than coal or natural gas for countries in the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF), which includes nations with over 20% of the world's population.

The CVF nations have less than 5% of global GDP and electricity demand, but they are being left behind by the rapid growth of solar power. According to Ember, these countries can now build a cheaper and more reliable energy path to prosperity on their own terms.

The report highlights that the up-front cost of solar power has decreased significantly, making it a viable alternative to fossil fuels. This is especially significant for countries with limited access to electricity, where every kilowatt-hour counts.
