Sonoro Gold Soars on Record Gold Prices, Nearby Drilling Results
Junior mining sector stocks got a boost on Monday as gold prices hit fresh peaks and nearby drilling results fueled Sonoro Gold's shares. The company's stock jumped up to 13% to €0.1360 in European trading, powered by a record-setting gold price near US$4,305 per ounce.
The higher bullion price translates directly into improved project economics for pre-production miners like Sonoro. What makes Monday's move notable is that the trigger wasn't company-specific news at all.
Instead, investors took their cue from Goldgroup Mining's high-grade drill results and progress on restarting production at its San Francisco project, a property sitting in close proximity to Sonoro's flagship Cerro Caliche development. The read-across for Sonoro is straightforward: success in the immediate neighbourhood validates the geological endowment of the entire district.
Cerro Caliche itself is nearing construction-readiness, helped significantly by the easing of federal permitting bottlenecks in Mexico. Regulatory filings confirm that Palisades Goldcorp remains a significant shareholder, having expanded its position earlier this month.
