South Bend Community Meals Bring Residents Together
South Bend is abuzz with community meals this week, offering a variety of options for residents to gather and enjoy some good food. The first event on the agenda is the Wine Walk, set to take place from 5 pm to 9 pm on August 12th in downtown South Bend. Participants will have the opportunity to pair bites with wine samples at one of four participating locations - Ironhand Wine Bar, The Lauber, Madison Oyster Bar, or Salvation Bar. Tickets can be purchased for $55, which includes both food and drink, or $30 for just food.
On Thursday, August 13th, the Galien American Legion Post 344 will host a Burger Night from 4 pm to 8 pm. The menu features burgers, hot dogs, shrimp, chicken strips, and sloppy joes, all served with fries and slaw. Prices range from $9 to $5 per basket.
For those looking for something a bit more substantial, the Ryan A. Balmer American Legion Post 161 will be hosting a Fish, Chicken or Shrimp Fry on August 14th from 4:30 pm to 7 pm. While prices vary, diners can choose between dine-in and carryout options.
The next day, August 15th, the American Legion Pulaski Post 357 will have its Kitchen Open from 11 am to 8 pm, offering a full menu including fried fish on Fridays. Prices are variable and can be enjoyed in either dine-in or carry-out form.
On August 16th, the same post will host a Picnic and Old-Fashioned Corn & Sausage Roast from noon to dusk. For $5, attendees can enjoy all the corn they can eat, with sausage and fixings available for an additional charge. Music will be provided by PT and the Cruisers from 2 pm to 6 pm.
The following weekend brings more community meals, including a Fish Fry on August 21st at the Crumstown Conservation Club. For $15, diners can enjoy all-you-can-eat fish, along with a limited salad bar in dine-in form or carryout of up to 8 pieces.
Finally, the Knights of Columbus will host a Spaghetti Supper on August 21st from 5 pm to 7 pm. For $14 per adult and $7 for children aged 5-13, attendees can enjoy all-you-can-eat homemade spaghetti sauce, salad, garlic toast, and ice cream.
