South Carolina Gas Prices Skyrocket Amid Crude Oil Price Surge
Gas prices in South Carolina have seen a sudden spike, despite demand typically slowing down after the summer driving season.
The average price for regular gas in South Carolina is now $3.90 per gallon, compared to the national average of $4.27 per gallon.
Diesel prices have also reached record highs at $5.84 per gallon in South Carolina and $5.97 nationally.
Tiffany Wright, a spokesperson for AAA in South Carolina, attributed the sudden increase to higher crude oil prices, which account for 55% of what drivers pay at the pump.
Wright also noted that global tensions and uncertainty in the oil market can contribute to price volatility.
