South Carolina Gas Prices Skyrocket Amid Global Oil Market Uncertainty

South Carolina drivers are facing another surge in gas prices, with the average cost of regular gasoline rising to $3.90 per gallon.

This is despite demand typically slowing down after the summer driving season, according to AAA.

Tiffany Wright, a spokesperson for AAA in South Carolina, notes that the recent increase is unusual for this time of year, with prices jumping 9 cents overnight and 30 cents over the past month.

The main factor contributing to the spike in gas prices is higher crude oil prices, which account for 55% of what drivers pay at the pump. Global tensions and uncertainty in the oil market can also contribute to price volatility.
