South Korea Unveils 13-Year Gas Plan Amid Rising Demand for Semiconductors and AI
The South Korean government has finalized its 13-year natural gas supply plan, taking into account rising demand from AI data centers and semiconductor clusters.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy released the 16th Long-Term Natural Gas Supply and Demand Plan, which covers the period from 2026 to 2038. According to the plan, baseline natural gas demand is projected to fall by an average of 0.94% annually, while supply management demand is expected to remain steady at current levels.
The government aims to strengthen its national natural gas stockpiling system and diversify import sources to reduce dependence on single regions. LNG imports from the Middle East are set to decrease to around 10%, while those from the US will increase to around 30% by 2038.
