South Korean Fuel Shipment Eases Russia's Refinery Crisis

Russia's fuel supply crisis deepened last month as Ukrainian drone attacks on refineries continued. To address this issue, Russia imported around 30,000 metric tons of fuels from South Korea.

The fuels were loaded onto short-range tankers in South Korea and sent to Russia's Far East, with at least one shipment already arriving at its destination. According to unnamed sources, the two South Korean cargos consisted of diesel fuel and jet fuel.

Russian refineries' throughput fell to 3.6 million barrels daily last month, the lowest since 2002, which is over 30% below the seasonal average. Despite this, crude oil production in Russia rose, averaging over 9 million barrels daily in July, up by about 100,000 barrels from June's average.
