South Korean Petrochemical Complex Gets New LNG Cogeneration Plant
HD Hyundai E&F has completed a liquefied natural gas (LNG) cogeneration plant at the Daesan Petrochemical Complex in South Korea. The facility, which was established as a district energy subsidiary of HD Hyundai Oilbank, cost approximately $323.5 million to build.
The new plant can generate 290 megawatts of electricity and 321 tons of steam per hour for tenant companies within the complex. Its cogeneration structure produces both electricity and thermal energy simultaneously, achieving higher fuel efficiency than simple-cycle power generation.
HD Hyundai E&F's CEO Kim Myung-hyun stated that the company will operate the high-efficiency combined-cycle facilities reliably and continuously improve equipment efficiency to help customers reduce carbon emissions.
