South Sudan Targets 200k Oil Barrels Daily by Next Year

The Ministry of Petroleum in South Sudan has set an ambitious goal to increase crude oil production to at least 200,000 barrels per day by next year.

Undersecretary Dr. Santino Ayuel Longar attributed the current production level of around 175,000 barrels a day to recent increases in several oil-producing areas.

The government is working with operating companies to use modern technology and improve production efficiency, particularly in ageing fields.

South Sudan's DPOC concession area has seen an increase from 96,000 barrels per day to an average of 102,000 barrels, while SPOC production has risen from 9,000 barrels to between 13,000 and 14,000 barrels daily.
