Southeast Storms Ease Pressure on Natural Gas Pipelines
The Labor Day weekend brought much-needed relief to the Southeast as thunderstorms swept down the Atlantic coast, easing the strain on natural gas pipelines operating under operational flow orders (OFO). Spot prices climbed above $7/MMBtu due to high demand for air conditioning, but with temperatures set to drop sharply over the next few days, the pressure is expected to ease.
Transco Zone 5 cooling degree days (CDDs) dipped on Monday, a sign that the region's cooling needs are decreasing. The Transco OFO is currently in place until Saturday, and US CDDs are expected to stay above normal over the next 15 days.
