Soybean Oil Prices Seen Rebounding Amid Biofuel Demand Surge
A recent surge in demand for biofuels and edible oils has led to a sharp increase in prices of soybean oil, according to Pure Hedge. The US government's efforts to lower cattle prices have also contributed to the decline of the cattle markets.
Pure Hedge notes that the funds have been buying up large quantities of soybeans, soybean meal, and soybean oil, but have started to liquidate their positions in recent days. This has led to a correction in prices, but Pure Hedge believes the market will rebound quickly due to tight supply and skyrocketing demand.
The global demand for vegetable oils is expected to rise further with countries like Brazil, Indonesia, and India increasing their biofuel mandates. The delayed monsoon rains in India have also reduced soybean and cotton planting by 5%, while China's rapeseed yield has dropped to 3.14mt.
Pure Hedge predicts that the December'26 Soybean Oil could trade into the 80's by the end of the year, settling at 68.93 today.
