Stainless Steel Surges as Copper Prices Dip
Copper and brass/bronze scrap prices experienced modest declines on July 23, 2026. Several major grades of copper saw lower values, including #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Copper Bare Bright, and #3 Copper-Light copper, each falling by $0.16 per pound. Insulated Copper Wire prices also dropped.
However, stainless steel scrap prices rose on the Index. 301 SS, 304 SS Solid, 304 SS Turning, 309 SS, and 316 SS Solid each increased by $0.01 per pound, while 310 SS prices climbed by $0.02 per pound and 330 SS prices rose by $0.03 per pound.
Aluminum scrap prices were largely unchanged across all tracked grades, indicating stable market conditions. Steel scrap prices remained unmoved as well, with no price variation for #1 Busheling, #1 HMS, Sheet Metal, Shredded Auto Scrap, or Structural Steel.
