State Fair Prices Rise 3.1%, Pronto Pups Soar to 7% Increase
The University of St. Thomas' annual On a Stick Index measures inflation at the Minnesota State Fair, tracking prices for admission, transportation, and popular fair foods. This year's index found that fair prices rose by 3.1%, a significant slowdown from last year's 7.4% jump.
According to Tyler Schipper, an economics associate professor at the University of St. Thomas, several food items saw increases in price, including Pronto Pups, which rose by 7%. In contrast, corn dog prices were down slightly this year.
The report also noted that admission and parking costs remained steady from last year, and many popular fair foods held their prices unchanged. However, the Turkey-to-Go turkey leg increased to $20, one of the more noticeable price hikes at the fair.
