StoneX Analyst Sees Gold Futures Rising Towards $4,600
Comex gold futures may rise towards $4,600 an ounce based on technical analysis, according to Matt Simpson from StoneX. This prediction was made in a commentary by Simpson, who noted that single-analyst technical projections are not always reliable indicators of market movement.
In the past, round-number targets have acted as magnets for gold prices during trending phases, but they often lose their significance when the fundamental drivers of the metal's value shift. Real-rate expectations, official-sector buying, and haven demand have been the main drivers of gold prices in recent cycles, rather than chart structure.
Simpson emphasized that momentum-driven extensions in gold can run further and longer than fundamental models imply, but they often reverse sharply when the underlying factors change. The key to understanding this market movement is whether it is confirmed by open interest and ETF inflows or if it is driven solely by futures-led positioning.
