Storms Disrupt Chile's Copper Exports, Prices Rise Amid Supply Tightness
Chilean copper exports saw a significant decline in August, with receipts falling to $4.62 billion, down 14% from July and 3.2% below the same month last year.
This marks the weakest monthly take since July 2025, despite copper prices being more than 40% higher than they were a year ago.
The decline is attributed to severe weather conditions in July and August, which brought heavy rain, snow, and strong winds that disrupted mining operations, while rough seas also curtailed port activity.
