Strait of Hormuz Disruptions Send Oil Prices Soaring
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has led to a significant disruption in oil production and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, causing concerns for global energy markets. The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) has raised its forecast for Brent crude prices in 2026 to $86.81 per barrel, up from $81.91 previously.
Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has fallen to its lowest level in a week, with only eight vessels crossing on Tuesday compared to an average of around 12 over the past 10 days. This decrease in traffic is causing concerns about global supplies and freight costs.
