Strait of Hormuz Erupts into Conflict Zone
The Strait of Hormuz has become a battleground in the escalating conflict between Iran and the US. In response to the US sinking five Iranian oil tankers, Iran attacked ten ships near the strait on Wednesday.
The attacks sent oil prices surging, with Brent crude breaching $100 a barrel for the first time since July. At least one seafarer was killed and another listed as missing.
Iran also fired ballistic missiles at a US base in Jordan, where 18 of the 20 missiles were intercepted by air defences.
