Strait of Hormuz Shipping Resumes with LNG Tankers Headed for Asia
Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has slowly resumed after being severely curtailed by the US-Israeli war on Iran. Three liquefied natural gas tankers have exited the strait in recent days, heading to Pakistan, China, and India.
The vessels join a handful of supertankers that have left the Gulf this month via a transit route ordered by Iran. Last week, three Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) made their way to China and South Korea with 6 million barrels of crude.
One of the tankers, Fuwairit, crossed the strait on Monday and is expected to discharge its cargo in Pakistan on Tuesday. It loaded LNG at Qatar's Ras Laffan port around March 28.
