Strong Mineral Prices Boost Namibia's Export Earnings
Good mineral prices have boosted Namibia's export earnings and profitability of producers in recent months, according to a mining update by the Chamber of Mines of Namibia.
The report highlights that gold, uranium, copper, and zinc prices on the international market remain strong, with gold increasing by 34% year-to-date. The average gold price in July rose by 18% compared to the average price of 2025, while prices were 22% higher year-on-year.
Uranium prices also maintained a strong upward trend in July, supported by continued strength in the global uranium market. Prices were 18% higher on a year-to-date basis, and the average price in July 2026 compared to the average price in 2025 increased by 19%.
On the other hand, diamond prices remain under sustained pressure, with the index declining from around 91 points in September 2025 to approximately 82 points by August 2026. Natural diamond prices have declined sharply due to competition from lab-grown diamonds.
