Sugar Price Rally Ends as Average Sugar Price Drops by Rs 91
The sugar price rally in the local wholesale commodity market has finally come to an end. After eight consecutive days of increases, the average sugar price dropped by Rs 91 per quintal on Thursday, reaching Rs 5,947. This decline also affected jaggery prices, which fell by Rs 47 per quintal.
The wholesale market saw a mixed trend for other essential commodities. Wheat prices decreased by Rs 29 to Rs 2,838 per quintal, while wheat flour prices dropped by Rs 30 per quintal. However, rice prices remained high, increasing by Rs 62 to Rs 4,117 per quintal.
In the pulses market, most types of dal saw an increase in price, except for moong dal, which decreased by Rs 20 per quintal. Masoor dal rose by Rs 41, urad dal by Rs 29, tur dal by Rs 16, and chana dal by Rs 12.
The edible oils market was also impacted by international cues. Palm oil prices declined by Rs 145 per quintal, while soybean oil prices increased by Rs 19 per quintal. Overall, the sugar price decline has paused the upward trend in the market, but prices for other essential food items remain mixed.
